‘So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me”. So that place was called Baal Perazim’
2 Samuel 5:20 (NIV)
The spiritual meaning of Goshen in Hebrew signifies a place of comfort and plenty. As we navigate new beginnings, let us draw strength that Baal Perazim – the God of our Breakthrough – will lead us to our Goshen. Saints, let’s draw comfort from the fact that the Word of God is the master key to a world of supernatural breakthroughs as seen in – Luke 5:4-6, 7:1-10, John 11:43, etc. Indeed the Word is the key to solving the problems of mankind.
John 1:1-4 clearly states that God was there from the beginning and that everything was made through Him – He is the light of all mankind. While John 1:14 (NIV) decrees that “The Word became flesh, and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth”. Beloved, Jesus in His Word, has given us authority over the kingdom of darkness – Luke 10:19 (NIV), and as such, we must understand that breakthrough is not a state of being, it is a lifestyle.
New beginnings come with fear and apprehension of what the future holds for us. Nevertheless, we must grow in our salvation so that bold confidence in our Lord can characterise our lives. Let’s not procrastinate. Remember, Jesus is the captain of this ship called life, and ultimately, in charge of our lives. This Jesus has a history of calming stormy seas, by merely speaking – Matthew 8:23-27. “Great calm” reminds us that God has everything under His control, even the most violent, stormy situation in our lives. As we travel to our Goshen, let’s cast all our burdens on Him, as 1 Peter 5:7 admonishes us, for He is the God of our breakthrough.
Let Us Pray
Heavenly Father, we have a blessed assurance that nothing can overcome Your blessing upon our lives. As You permit us to face uphill battles, hardships, and conflicts along the way to our Goshen, we endure because we know Baal-Perazim, is a part of Your plan to bless us. We acknowledge that obedience through faith is the critical key in opening a channel for Your blessings, and we confess our disobedience, since “To obey is better than sacrifice” – 1 Samuel 15:22. Only You alone can take us through life’s journeys successfully, so we bow our hearts and humbly submit to Your will for our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
